And the results are in!

Meat Shred trap : 2x Darkwater Bluegill, 2x Gold Pickerel, 3x Tiger Trout, 1x Trunk Nosed Lake Perch, 1x Oyster

Grass trap 1: 1x Crab, 2x Crawdad, 1x Gold Pickerel, 2x Sargasso Eel, 1x Mermaids Purse, 1x Oyster

Grass Trap 2: 1x Crab, 1x Darkwater Bluegill, 1x Gold Pickerel,1x Mermaids Purse, 2x Sargasso Eels, 1x Shin Spinner.

The meat shred trap did catch one more fish than the first grass trap. But it's also true this was the order the traps were filled. Trap one caught most, trap 2 second most, trap three least. I'll go on a bunny hunt later and do a repeat! and swap the baits and orders and see what happens, woot.

Poor bunnies.

btw don't cook the shreds, i think you don't catch a lot of seafood with cooked food. (maybe something to test in your next experiment? :p)

Be sure to repeat that experiment a few times as the schools rotate + there is some RNG involved in what swims to traps even with the same bait over again I think.

There's a random element for sure.
My own suspicion is it doesn't make any difference what you put in the trap (so long as it's a qualifying bait item).
I have used 'charred something's' before. I don't recall there being a significant change to the end result, but we'll see.
Experiment 3 may be a few days in coming, but I'll load up the traps again later.
I can only eat so many fish :p

Yes I have found out something similar but I'm not entirely sure if it's true or just bait having a very minimal effect.

seems each location has different chances for different fish types... at my place Pickerel is very rare, I have 6 traps with random bait... lots of fishbones go in, lots of crawdads come out

The bait certainly matters.

I personally always found meat cuts to be one of the best kinds of bait to use on a massive scale.

Just get V&B and chop up a few deers / bears.

Good. But i asked for oysters. Im little confused now. I tried hays, shreds, chopping, nuts. Mostly got Sargasso Eel. Around 5 catch per trap/round. Have 6 traps now and got only few oysters. :(

The place where you place your fish trap is important : you don't catch the same fishes by a river or by a lake (sea ? ).
