This quote alone made me laugh.

Larger villages COTTON PLANTATIONS, can produce this amount of silver every 3 days, Let alone the other sources of income.

You really have no concept of how much silver exists do you ?

You also need to remember that this world is HUGE so finding you would very much be like finding a needle in a haystack. So long as you are a few hours away from the main town, and so long as you dont pave or dig in your area, it is very easy to go undetected in Salem untill you have saved enough to start building and claiming land. You can also store silver in the bank - you lose a good chunk admitidly but sometimes it can be worth it if you dont want to worry about being stolen from at night.
Do not argue with idiots, for they will pull you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

OK cool, and are there any ways to make travel timer quicker (less encumbered? Special clothing or artifacts?)

Yes right now I guess I am close to the main town where the Indian guy built my lean to, so I should start moving as soon as possible to be more secluded, i see plenty of evidence of human activity ask around me here. What I wonder is, how can I tell what direction the town is from my current location, so I know what direction I should start moving? And I see west of town mentioned often, I am curious why not north, S, Nw, Sw?

Look in your recipes and find the New World Survey. Make one and name it and it'll tell you where you are in the world so you can decide where to go.

People tell you to go West because they believe that being near darkness is safest. The misconception there is that most seem to think darkness is only West of town when it is actually in every direction, and the edge of darkness is rather crowded. Try somewhere in the middle band between town and the edge of the map, not too close to Limer's Front, which is direct West of Providence.
