How to mine?

Indian feathers. Not that hard to find. Your chances increase with additional levels of Flora and Fauna. Make some leather or rabbit skins. Also an abandoned mine really does a lot of the work for you. You can find someone to sell you a pickaxe cheap really. It really is not hard to make silver.

Yeah, just time consuming. you can also supplement your feather income by beating up Crickets, which is super easy for even an extremely weak character.

Yeah your best (cheapest) option is to really just buy a player made pickaxe, and required bits for a smelter, and then make your anvil yourself, at least that's how I've done it last couple of times. Really doesn't take much time or effort to scrape the silver together for that.

I'd also be wary, if you found a mine then someone made it ... thus somebody knows exactly where it is right now. Not saying be paranoid ... but ... be paranoid
