That's what id love to do m8 but to mine you need a lot of skills learned, iv built a base to the best of what I can craft and spent most the day terraforming land, iv piles of bits and bobs from forage and scavenging, I do raze my glutton but that has a timer too. and im not a noob to the game iv pumped alot of hours into the old game. run for my life from the tribe many time :P anyway ill get me some potions and get on with it..

You really shouldn't let your low skills stop your gameplay. You can mine without a issue with low skills. I doubt if you are complaining about the inspiration that you have a high glutton cool down. Set a goal and work for it.

I personally just enjoy how my character is inspired by the most mundane things... Wood shavings? Better think deeply about the complexity behind them... Next we tackle one of God's greatest mysteries, a smooth rock, I mean, how does that even happen?!

I think it has to do with the early discoveries, imagine going to a whole new world for the first time ever, i'm sure even a mundane rock is of great interest, but loses a lot of it after a few weeks, the same with your character that needs to discover much more stuff and the rock would not satisfy him after this time.

The point here is that this might detour new players from continuing to play, I believe the devs would like to have new players...

In the beginning of this world I also had a problem with low inspiration gain. But it didn't stop me from playing.

I have spent first 2 days exploring a lot, to find a good spot for my camp.
I have also made a second alt and skilled them in a different way. First char went more into base building skills (wall building, farming, mining, smelting) while the other went for hunting, leatherworking, and later specialised in H&N for planing boards.
Also, I have spent considerable amount of time gathering and cooking food to raise my biles.

i returned from 2013
disliked the new insp. system at first, but now i can say that it's way more balanced compared to the previous one

dont forget to learn mind skills, pump some bb and play the game. These's so much stuff to do now!
in case you dont have spare money for the potions just take it easy and don't bruteforce the system:
1-2 months is enough to learn pretty much every available skill (in case you use the inspirationals wisely)

You can indeed just gather a few savage charms, and buy the potions to brute force the system. So while it certainly sets a pace. There is still no hard cap to how fast you can level up your inspiration so i see no validity in asking that inspiration be removed.

The intention of my comments was not to say remove the inspiration system at all, it actually makes it interesting later in the game. I enjoy grinding it out now that I have tons of other things to do. When I first started there was nothing to do after using all my inspiration, did not have the skills to mine among others. Perhaps you could institute some mechanic that would allow new players to have enhanced gain of inspiration for the first few days. I don't know how that would work with people creating alts and taking advantage of an enhanced gain but worth a thought I suppose.
