The mayor should be careful to invite players to the town prior to them walking on the claim just in case their computer crashes or they have an ill-fated log out.

You might want to reexamine the conditions under which this happens. I have had it happen several times on my own claim when entering a mine and becoming lodged in another object. I can't see the inventory loss being necessary if one is on one's own claim. (And to any who say that it shouldn't matter, as it is your claim, let me remind you that items lost while embedded in a shed are rather hard to reclaim.)

You get a large popup message on your screen when you enter a town.

Yes it tells me that I am entering a town but it doesn't say the consequences of being in that town. I know the name of the town but it doesn't provide me with an additional information. It says nothing of losing your items when entering the town. Also if a player had Salem crash wouldn't the game keep the player logged in if they are in a town?

All your items will be left where you crashed. Just have your friend pick them up and start walking again. Use the time to explore and have fun or rent a horse and go from Boston.

The other problem is that not all items stay when you drop them. I'm sure 90% of my inventory will disappear when dropped.

You probably didn't need that many worms anyways.

Dude, seriously tho, best advice you're gonna to get is this: grow a pair. If this is the problem you're having over a couple of items lost you are going to lose it when you get killed for the first time. Suck it up, have you're friend pick up as much as he can, lighten up and have some fun.

If you are on your claim and its your homestead them you don't loose anything.

I'm upset that I have to make a 3 hour walk again. The items I find easily, it's the walk that's the problem.

If you are standing in an open gate, it considers your position blocked. It strews your items around the gate so that you need to knock down some walls to recover some of your items.

If you set your claim to be your home and you are on your claim it just ports you with out dropping your inventory.

If this is the case, you're in luck. Buy a pclaim, place it where he was when he crashed, give him permission to trespass etc, and he can log in again. Pclaim overrides vclaim.
