I've never understood this argument. Yes, it's possible, but who is going to want to spend the 2500 silver for a bell, get compacts on an alt because you're not going to run your main out to a base to put the bell down, spend double whatever the claim is worth which is sure to end up in the thousands, all for a random mystery claim that might be full of mainly boxes of wood choppings? The tribe has never townbelled anyone for the loot. It may have been done once or twice for political reasons, but it's been a very long time as I can't recall a specific occurrence.
According to the roadmap, the pvp patch is the next one after this, so late next month? Hardly any time at all.
Getting back to the subject of the thread though, a few things are up in the air with the food and purity patch right now. So, you don't want to start any purity grinds or buy any purity items for pots or whatever as that will be changing completely in a couple weeks. You also might want to cool it on humor advancement if you're not enjoying that aspect of the game as that is about to change completely. Other than that, what you do once you get past the early stages of learning skills you have to learn and such, is mostly up to you. Me, I've always liked the leathercrafting, so I'm working my way up to getting Fine Leathercraft. I also really enjoy hunting, so I take frequent hunting forays to areas I've found have good supplies of animals. I also am storing up hay to third tier a few fields, that's a project that can take a good bit of time depending on how many tier 3 fields you want. Some people maintain trade threads, that's a job and a half, I'm sure. I've heard right now you can smelt tons of iron and make a profit on the seasonal stall if you have the skill to make halberds and sell them.
