new player with a few questions

Hello,

I am a new player and have a few questions.

I'll start with these ones:

I can only seem to find "area" chat. Is that the only chat channel available to new players? Is there a help channel or a global channel?

I finished the basic tutorial. Are there more hints as the game goes or is it a trial and error type thing? For example, talked to the wilderness guide, picked a homestead, and have just been clicking on stuff. I'm wondering if I missed something.

Thank you but that opens up area chat which I am familiar with.

Is there a busier channel? There doesn't seem to be any conversations in area chat.

Area chat is the only chat. It only shows chat from people in close range to you (like when you are in your main city). There is private chat and party chat as well, but no other chat "channels."

Tutorials, no there are no more. However when you do something you've never done before you may get a pop-up explaining it (like going into darkness or starting gluttony mode).

there are only 4 chat channels in the whole game.

1) area chat (local area typically within visual range)
2) private chat (only active when privately talking to people on a 1 to 1 bases)
3) party chat (when you are in a party of 2 or more people this will show up)
4) village chat (only active when you are part of a town "Vclaim")

Other than gender, hair, hair colour, and facial hair options available at the beginning, how do you change other fearures?

Eh, you don't other than your armor/clothes/mask. This is still in beta bud you gotta realize, so there aren't all the features out there yet. The devs are mostly working on core updates to get the game really running before aesthetics, or so I am to understand.

There are tut's on youtube for various aspects of gameplay. Also, using the search in forums is very handy!
