Indian Feathers... where are they?!

Postby oddshocks » Mon Feb 25, 2013 6:00 am

I have found 8-12 Indian Arrowheads in the past couple days of playing, but have yet to find any Indian Feathers! I read that they appear similar to Smooth Stones so I have been keeping a careful watch out... This is really hampering my advancement, as I need to use the feathers with the arrowheads to make the Savage Charms which will earn me the 150s I need for a Homestead writ.

Thanks for any advice!

Are you using Wander or Forage to move around and making sure to look in a wide range. I know I would have walked right past more than a few if I hadn't used a zig-zag pattern (compared to a straight line). Also check in all those stumps you run across. It's rare, but they can have feathers in there (and other goodies, such as snake skins, you can sell for silver).

The icon on the mini map looks like a white feather with a bit of red in it. I read in a guide somewhere to not bother picking up arrowheads until you have a feather, and while I doubt that the odds of finding a feather are lower while you have an arrowhead in your inventory (or in a container) it's what I do. Arrowheads are easy to find, I don't bother picking them up until I have a feather already.
When you get your humors higher (read into gluttony) you can kill crickets to craft 'Cricket Team' for good money.

Thanks for the tips everyone. I have been using Forage and Wander sometimes, but not all the time. I was surprised I had so many Arrowheads and no Feathers.

And thanks for the cricket team tip, for some reason it didn't click in my head to fight them to hunt them just like rabbits.

I got mine day before yesterday and it may help you plan ahead to know this, if you have not already read it in wiki. Don't get too excited when you get that 150s and buy your writ and can finally protect your ****... 'cause you can't. Your initial claim lands you a 3x3 area and it costs 1s per square to increase.

Sorry if I burst your bubble... but like I said, it might help you plan better knowing that in advance.

Yes, have a nice spot picked out to settle in too. You don't want to carry it around once you buy it. Nothing worse than getting bitten by a rattler and realizing you're carrying a writ, but no antivenom and your leanto is an hour away. o.O

Its shocking no one has told you to get the skill "indian tracking" which actually is required before you can even find indian feathers.

Oh well.

PS: Get indian tracking, it allows you to see / find the feathers you require.

PPS: If you already have this skill, turn on wander, and run around a few hours in a forest, you will find most here imho.(As well as chances of singing logs, and other desirable items players will buy)

Can you even see arrowheads without Indian Tracking? I don't recall finding them prior to that.

Yes, you can see arrows, definitely. I'm pretty sure I even found a feather without indian tracking, but you can't make the savage charm until you get the skill.

I have the skill, just haven't stumbled across a feather yet. Up to 10 or 12 Arrowheads though.
