If a Tree Falls in the Forest....

Postby Monohan » Thu Nov 29, 2012 10:19 pm

Is there a way to predict which direction a tree will fall after chopping it down or is it completely random. I just chopped down a tree and it ended up stuck in the side of a cliff, obsiously out of my reach. My apologies if there is a previous post about this, I could not find any.

Yeah, it will fall directly opposite of whatever side you are chopping on.

If a tree falls in the forest...

And someone leaves the log long enough, or the stumps, do they turn into the hollow stumps and logs? I have been wondering this but didn't want to make my own thread about it.

Yup, both the stumps and logs will eventually turn hollow. We have thousands of hollow stumps outside of our village.

Logs currently don't turn ito hollow ones, but they will. They just now have no hit box, so decay can't hit them. Logs will turn into hollow ones when loftar fixes this.

Ah, thank you for the answer. Was rather wondering why a few peoples large piles of logs weren't wormfood yet (I've seen up to 20 in one spot so far o.o).

Damn, should have read this beforehand... Now there's a log stuck in my wall and I can figure out no way of getting it out there. Any ideas? It's not a big problem so far, but it looks absolutely stupid!! :|
But if the logs don't even decay that would mean I'd have to deal with it staying there forever??

If you can't get in a position to pick it up or chop it into blocks, it's pretty well stuck there until you can smash that section of wall to remove the log.

that's really bad. Well I'll just have to wait then. do you know if I can build something over the log? I was plannng to build a second wall right where it's lying now.

The logs don't have a hit box (you can walk right through them) so building over them really shouldn't be a problem at this time.
