Can someone explain to me exactly how the mechanics of this item work? Or point me in the right direction to the thread regarding the details about how it works? Cant seem to find it. Thanks

it works like this: normally, you could go to the undertaker in providence to plan your estate with character A (he's in the graveyard). The moment you do that, a snapshot of your character A (biles and proficiencies) is taken in return for a bit of silver. If you were to die and then spawn a new character B which inherits from character A, character B will spawn with 40% of the values of the snapshot (i.e. character A had 200 yb at the time of the snapshot, character B will spawn with 80 ybile). But this means that you should go to the undertaker pretty often, to make sure your snapshot is somewhat recent.

Buying, and using, a last will and testament on character A means that character B's initial levels will be taken from a snapshot taken at character A's death, i.e. your snapshot is always up to date. IIRC, a last will and testament inheritance also uses 70% of the snapshot rather than 40%. I'm positive on the mechanics, but not on the numbers so don't quote me on those :)
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

Last will and Testament item saves you the ever-growing expense updating your status with the undertaker; and as another mentioned it's constantly up to date.

IT's pretty cheap 1-100 biles, but the price is exponential as you grow.

Good for a Main, but wasted on an alt...

Thanks for the info, guys, I was wondering about this too. Happily bought one for my main character, comforting and worth it. Also, I assumed property/land claims would be inherited as well, I hope I am right?

Yes you inherit your claims and homestead (even if it's a leanto), but you don't inherit your keys so be sure to have Master Keys of each door with a newbie alt very far away from your base

P.S. What about silver bank accounts? Pay the 200 pieces in character generation, but inherit everything else?
