Seasons Timer discussion thread

Postby Taipion » Tue Oct 20, 2015 11:53 am

I know this thread had a bad start, but in these forums, one has to be trained to ignore such sources of distraction anyways. :P

JC said he is going to give us a way of knowing how long the current season will last, or something like that.

In the meantime I would like to gather some insight on how seasons work, and possibly an interim solution in case the "seasons timer" made by JC will take longer...

Any insight on season is welcome, from what I have noted so far:
- "Normal" seasons seem to always last a base 7 days plus downtime, anyone saw yet a season shorter than that or significantly longer without downtime as a reason?
- Some visible effects seem to precede a Blood Moon, but they are kind of short, any details on that? Is there a certain time frame in that it has to be cast?

to get this started:

This season (everbloom) started somewhere between 5:00 and 5:30 pm UTC, and should therefore last roughly until tuesday, 27. oct - 5:00 pm.

If someone has a more specific time of when this season started, please post it here, thanks! :-)

I was online at the time and was going to post what he did. I don't think I noticed the change over at the exact moment. It took seeing a butterfly on the minimap to notice for me, but anyway, that is closer to an exact time.

Ah yes, I'm glad you reminded me about this. I do think it would be fun if there was a mechanic or fun little ritual the players could do to estimate the season changes. I shall consider this again.

Please make it a ritual. Or we could just pay some silver to that time keeping npc. He should keep track of season changes as well.

Yes I suppose this could be a secondary use to the timekeeper.

Please be reminded that this thread is not intended for discussions, but only to keep track of the seasons, though ofc I highly appreciate the last few posts.
That said, please refrain from turning this into a wide discussion about how/what can be done to seasons.
Whoever has great ideas about this, feel free to open a new thread for it. ;)

As for the recent patch, did anyone note the lenght of the downtime?

[edit:] for the log, this looks like only 1h downtime
