Another question about splash - beautiful picture inside ;)

So I'm adding a wall and plan to destroy the old one.
On the picture i destroyed the segment that was in the yellow circle. The segments in red circles were damaged. But not the next ones.
I'm surprised because i thought splash was like up to 5-6 tiles. (Or maybe empty tiles, not 5-6 tiles of wall probably).

So then i' m wondering, when i will destroy the old wall (circled in blue) will it damage the new wall (circled in black)?
I'm afraid the answer could be yes.

Fast answer would be yes. Splash travels 5 tiles in any direction. It can only dmg one tile next to splash area. If you destoryed yellow it could splash on all 4 around it. BUT, splash is very wierd. Sometimes It works sometimes doesn't. You could dmg blue circle and there would be no splash on blue or there could be. Its a random thing.

I suggest starting from the red end segment and going along the line. Outward splash is much less likely on an endpoint wall segment than it is on a middle segment with segments on either side of it. Understand? Don't start in the middle of that wall.

ROFL, this is a raid mechanic?
Considering its completely trumped by a handfull of silver, whats the point of it? Just another one of those things to screw over unaware noobs like myself?
Its things like this that make the game feel very pedantic and just weird, in an not fun kind of way.
Hopefully there isn't too many more weird and hidden mechanics waiting in silence to screw me over before I can even start pvping. >_>

Again, what is the point? And are there other illogical raid mechanics like it that leave my base completely vulnerable for no apparent reason?

Why would building a wall cause damage to other walls nearby it? Its silly.

PS, not trolling, seriously flabbergasted by the strangeness of this mechanic in the face of everything else that so far has seemed very logical.

What are you talking about ? Making walls isn't making other walls damaged ;o

Ahh I see now, when you destroy a wall it then does a small amount of damage to nearby walls.
I thought when an intersecting wall was built right next to another wall it did the splash damage.
I thought I understood but I was wrong. Never mind me *hides under rock*.

Thanks for the different replies.
What if i build a plank wall before destroying the old one.

Image

In red the old wall that i will destroy.
In black the new one.
In orange a plank fence.

When i will hit the red one, will the plank protect the black one from splash damage?
Will the plank will be damage by splash?

Pave under your walls. Seems like they more likely to resist splash dmg if they're paved
