Random leanto outside my base

Hello, I am in need some advice.

I have a small base that I'm trying to build up as a hermit. Today I found a random leanto right outside my base, which means my base is on someone's radar. I have some defenses up, everything is covered by braziers and a torchpost, however I am not sure what my next steps should be.

I don't want to destroy the leanto, because I am not sure who would pick the scent up.

What should I do?

Should I just destroy it and have one of my alts pick up the scents?

I could also expand my claim to include the leanto.

What would you suggest?

If you want to remove the scout's leanto

claim it with personal claim then destroy it. Leaves no scents.

Expand your claim and break it, it won't leave scents in that case. Or build another claim, if expanding would cost more than 150s.

Wall it up my main is stuck on claimed land but then u need worry about the guy making an alt to tear your base down

How will he get to my base if he doesn't have a leanto to teleport to, though? Will he travel on foot, raising his stats on the way?

It is most likely not his main that has the leanto outside your base. Most likely just a scout. He will probably take a horse from providence or limers front with his main.

Sounds like my base is pretty screwed, then. Any way to actually prevent my main from getting killed in the process? Do raiders in general grief, in the sense that they would destroy everything, or do they just steal stuff?

First off, take a deep breath and stay clam. It is far more likely that the leanto is nothing more then one that has been randomly plopped down by some newbie spawning in the wilds. Yes you should claim the leanto and distroy it, but you should not feel that all is lost and the end is nigh.

Theives also will not bother to distroy your stuff - they would likely just take anything they think is valubale and then take your silver. All are easy to replace. What level is your Base at? Stonehedge walls?

Yes, stonehedge walls, 6 braziers and 3 torchposts. Building a second wall right now, and there is also one more wall splitting my base in two.

PS The owner of the leanto had ~30 silver in their purse, so I think it's not a fresh spawn. I could be wrong, though.

PS2 I met the owner of the leanto, he apologized for scaring me and said he was just an alt to scout and gather silver with. He seemed pretty nice. I have him some hay and some logs for his next leanto and he continued on with his travels.
