Until you have more than enough dry boards, and can build sheds, I'd go with crates. You can pack them real tightly together, and they're much less of a pain to make en masse than urns.
Chests suck. I only use chests for lime runs and water. Protip: store 4 chests in a sled, save tons of space.
Did Claeyt shut up yet?

Making urns is easy, you can just put a ton of bricks in chests on your sled or boat and go to the next clay deposit. Just dig for hours and make unburnt urns on the spot. Bring food!
Example: 4 chests in a boat with 100 bricks and you can dig 400 clay to make urns + 50 clay for the free space in the chests (to make new bricks).
That's 50 urns + 50 clay in just two runs to the clay pit. Plus whatever you put in your inventory.
That is way better than making boards for boxes.

Even better just build a kiln next to the clay pit and burn your bricks there, you can even burn large urns to hall your unburnt large urns back in so you only have to drag the sled one way.
