Lock wont change

My character was murdered and I created a new one and inherited my old characters claim, I foolishly had my master keys attuned to my old character. I got the master keys and had another person create a new master key and lock, but when I try to change the lock it says that you must have the master key to change locks. I have both the old master key and the new one attuned to the new lock. What am I doing wrong?

The new master key or the old master key?
The new one is attuned to me. If I have to change the old one how do I do that?
