For the equipment I meant, is there a difference between a jute set and the starting priest set ? Is it for the look or does it give +armor etc ?

I've been roaming in woods, looking in stumps... Wow they're really awesome. In one I found 1dried deer skin, 100 corn seeds, a Christmas Stocking and in another one not so far, a purse. Did a player put those or is it some goodies you can come across ? :D

Wait untill you find a whispering snake skull.

On Roanoke at least they are worth upwards of 1,000 silver.

Those are things players put in. Things that spawn are 1-5 silver, chestnuts, smooth stones, rocks, dried snake skins, whispering snake skulls, and spider webs.

The difference is the amount of slots into which you can place "artifacts" which are the source of buffs to stats

And where can I find a good explanation of this system ? I tried socketing stuff without success so far. I dont understand how you get higher success % than I get. And what the icons refer to.
Like do I need to socket an artifact in a piece of cloth having the same icon(s) ? This system looks cool but is rather confusing...

Also, what forageable usually sell ? And at wich price roughly ? I'm on ronaoke. Appart from the whispering skull.

To socket stuff well, you want to have proficiencies that are high-level in the groups that match between the Artifact and Clothing.

The two numbers represent the difficulty range expressed as a chance of failure. Add the two high numbers for the probability with 0 proficiencies, and add the two low numbers for the fail probability with super-high proficiencies. Your chance will be somewhere in between these. Only proficiencies overlapping between the artifact and the clothing matter.

The forageable with the most reliable demand is Hay (technically not foraged, but made from 5 grass). When you're farming, there is simply no such thing as "too much Hay". It's price isn't all that high, but the demand is solid when you find a buyer. I've heard flint is useful too. Basically anything which cannot be replaced as an ingredient, and which cannot be mass-produced will have a good demand. People also appreciate granite, since the only renewable source of it is foraging and walls consume it in large amounts. Rare inspirationals like Dewdrops or Singing Old Logs will also fetch you a pretty penny.
