Java 6

I am currently running Java 7 and the game keeps crashing/lagging horribly. I was wondering if there was a way to fix it without having to get Java 6 and if that's not the case then where can I download Java 6 and successfully download it. I look it up and there seems to be too many to choose from. I am new to the PC world so spelling things out to me in the simplest fashion would be best. Thank you all!

on windows:
go here http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jre6-downloads-1637595.html,
and download the Windows x86 Offline or Windows x64 version (depending on whether you have a 32 bit or 64 bit architecture processor).
From there it's just the installation like other programs.

After that you want to open the jnlp file you download for the client with C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\javaws.exe, or something along those lines (can vary depending on your computer)
