new player question, is this game dead?

I have to say that the recent world expansions (in the last month) has made the servers appear VERY dead.

Sure 1-2 hours radius from Boston/Roanoke/Jamestown you are likely to see some action but the recent map extension was nuts. It took a solid 2+ hours on run from the old corner of the map to the new one (no mountain climbing). Went exploring a full day with canoes and once we left the 1-2 hour perimeter of town did not see a single player / sign of life / claim.

Huh? World expansions? Was there any expansion to Plymouth's map?

I don't know about Plymouth but Roanoke has expanded in at least one direction.

There was mentioned an expansion of regular land, making darkness go further away. Not sure if the land mass itself was expanded. I guess the devs can do as they please landmass wise. Shrinking landmass might cause some outcries though..
