How do you mitigate splash damage vs. blaziers

Postby mariab31 » Sun Mar 24, 2013 8:47 pm

I wouldn't normally post this and I try to read as much as I can but at the moment I'm kindof stuck and yes I know there were quite a few post about splash damage already. How heres my question and if I misunderstood something I read tell me. If I can't afford to put up blaziers because it takes 5 tiles across plus whatever land I want to protect with a claim. That would be wall -tile space wall tile space and wall then blazer because you cant stack walls when using blazers and it all has to be on claimed land, how many or what kind of walls do i put up...as many as I can make? Would it be splitrail, stone, splitrail, stone and so on to soak up the splash damage...would six layers be enough to deter someone from raiding my place? Can you put up 3 spaced walls and just run a claim line around it so the blazers work? And to clarify I can't just have one claimed wall and blazers right...Thanks ahead of time guys.

Braziers are more important than walls nowadays. However many walls you want to make, and 1 wall of braziers on the inside should do the trick.

I was under the impression that blazers only work if you have 3 spaced walls and not stacked and it all has to be under claimed land.

All of this was changed in updates several weeks ago. It's very important to stay up on patch notes and new material when a game is still in beta. Things can change week to week, even day to day.

edit: sorry that I don't have an exact answer to the question. Common mitigation from artifacts should work to reduce the damage, but I'm not a raider and so can't say for sure. I'm not sure if anything else would contribute.

Sorry for the slight off-topic but the Wiki is not up-to-date on this point. Someone who is more into Wiki editing than I am may want to fix this.

You do not need to "light" a blazing brazier, it will automatically ignite when it detects enough crimes near it, as long as it has coal. For example 3 wastes (vandalism) are enough to activate a brazier, which means that an enemy can destroy 2 walls without activating a brazier.
