Display Ping and/or Frames Per Second?

I have a very nasty lag of late (play from New Zealand) and need a way to display these.

Check the "How to UI" thread. There's a console command to display FPS. However, for data transmissions, you'll need to use some wizardry to get this information from the OS or other diagnostic software.
