wells? can they be dug?

I made a new character and settled close to a swamp thinking it was a water source. However when trying to fill a bucket I realized it is not. I know the dousing rod (sp?) mentions wells in the description. Are they in the game or can you dig deep enough to hit water? Porting to Boston to fill buckets for baking is tedious.

wells have not been implemented into the game yet, so for the present moment consider the description on the dowsing rods as a placeholder, if you have silver or acess to metal I suggest making a barrel that way you can minimize the amount of trips you need to make to boston, if there isnt a water source nearby
