My leanto and the two baskets hidden in it disappeared. Why

I play everyday and suddenly my leanto is gone...is there a reason why that would happen?

First: DO NOT travel to Boston until you have a new leanto in place if you value this location at all.

Second: Turn on "tracking" in the Adventure menu. If you see exclamation points on the ground, then your camp probably got pillaged.

If not...then I don't know. Natural decay of Leantos takes weeks from what I know.

Did you have a claim down? if so make your claimstone your homestead and turn on tracking following by teleporting till you see scents

I appreciate all of your comments and I did make my claim my homestead as soon as I discovered the leanto was gone. Again, I appreciate all the great advice.

Leanto's not on a claim are totally free game to anyone with Larceny and or Waste. No crime buff for breaking or robbing them, so do not expect them to last long, or to be very safe.

Was this changed? Lean-tos that were claimed as homesteads did require waste and left related scents. (There's been so many updates recently, I've forgotten.) I've dug through the last couple of months of patches and I'm not seeing that they're supposed to be a free target.

When my leanto got smashed and edibles looted, I found a Waste and a Larceny scent at my encampment. This was before I had laid down a claimstone.

I'm fairly certain that you need larceny or waste to do anything to someones claim, this rule is ignored if their leanto is on your claim.
