having a lock problem

so i have a lock, i've attuned it and i want to put it on a pilgrim's hovel... it won't take, so how do i do this? I just click and drag it to the door and right click the door right? It's not working for me. Any ideas?

huh, well that's a small thing that the wiki got wrong... time to build a fence
