Abandoned Claim-stones: Can you claim them?

I started out near a small abandoned encampment (just some minor equipment and baskets) and the claim-stone was standing there undisturbed, presumably having exhausted whatever silver it once held. My question is this: Is there anything I can do to "hijack" the abandoned claim, or do I have to simply build a claim-stone of my own?

last time i check. u had to destroy the old claim stone and make your own
