They do look similar. The easiest way to tell the difference is by what trees there are. Pine forest only has pine trees.

Finally had an alt of mine look over the forests again.....had to pump him up a bit and he is now a bonafide Turkey Hunter for me :P But they do still appear randomly and not as much as the rest of the animals...on Ender they are an off blue Diamond...once you are somewhat close, you will know as they gobble/warble and you can hear that plainly.

Talk about fun trying to locate these critters...geesh!!! :)

Can someone explain the 'mid-late game' benefits of turkey coops?

From what I have gathered:

The eggs are used in Farmer's Omelette and Goldtilla. Farmer's Omelette costs 45 silver a pop and there is no way to get purity on it as far as I can tell. 10%~ pumpkin pies provide about as much phlegm. Goldtilla is a joke.

The turkeys that are produced are nice because they can be plucked. Early on this seems good, but such high amount of ingredients (lard being the biggest I'll get to) means purity building takes a while and requires effort. Without purity the stuffed turkeys become obsolete vs purity crop food. Eventually frikadels are no longer the mass cooked work food of choice (oatmeal crackers I assume?) so lard stops being acquired which means stuffed turkeys become more difficult to make.

Turkey poop is nice, but coal and humus can provide the same stats with less work required. A turkey coop requires the same amount of fuel as 5 composts combined. You can not at the time being influence purity on turkeys through the fuel used.

Therefore I ask:

Turkey Coops, should I still bother?

Probably not, unless you enjoy it. I kinda like mine, but it's been pretty useless so far.

After you pluck the turkey, butcher it into 8 turkey cuts which can be roasted like any other cut of meat without having to go hunting. 10,10,5,5.

turkey feathers and poop can be used to feed a compost. turkeys are cannibals (least mine are) and will happily eat their own family... so you can literally turn a coop in a food supply for compost and when you need some extra P/bb boost and dont want to make some fancy food. much like people compost rabbits and deers you can do the same with turkeys.

they can randomly give you feathers for hats and waddles for learning profs if you need those.

personally i find the poop useless as a fertilizer, but then again i pump mine with hay/humus and lime so the poop barely gives any points by then anyway. (better to compost it IMO)
