Can't Attack

For the last two days I haven't been able to attack deer. Whenever I use thrust I seem to just stab right through him, no damage, no aggro. Is anyone else having this problem? Is this a bug?

Do you have Big Game Hunting trained? From what I understand, you can't attack deer unless you do.
