[New Player] req help attaining settling

Postby olympus » Thu Dec 13, 2012 6:38 pm

(Yes i played HH and i understood the basis of the game from the start, so i don't really have to learn anything, just the new things)

But, i cannot acquire Settling... i am unable to raise the required proficincies to the levels needed to purchase it, i've tried 3 times and stopped for i did not want to waste my inspirations.

what i have access to is mainly Cobwebs, Crusifix, The Fire inspiration, Brilliant Dew, Perfect Leaf, Gourd

yeah that's really it.. what i need primarily are Perennial Philosophy points, i think if i can find a Red Herring, i should be good.

anyone have any advice? also, where can i find red herring? shallow rivers/lakes, or deep water?

thanks

A savage charm would be your best bet IMO.

Also try exploring forests for a singing old log, they provide everything for settling other than the natural philosophy.

The other good source for P Phil. is the rare you get from chopping down trees (cross shaped splinter) -- you can always chop trees down to 50% or so and move on to the next to avoid deforestation.

When i logged on, my camp and logs full of my inspirations were looted and moved to a nearby base that sprung up within a day, haha.

this forced me to wander around, i found a singing log about 10 minutes ago, it is excellent.

my woes over gaining settling are over now

Hoarding inspirationals is a bad idea generally. Hoarding inspirationals before you have a claim is insanity. I know it's a tough habit to break, (I'm a little OCD about it myself) but in the end you're much better off using inspirationals as you find them unless you are working on a higher level/difficult to level prof.

I had a character stalled out, holding onto around 6 boxes full of inspirationals in order to "maximize their efficiency." I finally broke myself of that and used them for whatever I needed at the time, and suddenly I had the profs. for like 5 more skills that I wanted. Was it a little wasteful? Yeah, but I went from two days of gaining 1 skill a day to gaining multiple skills in a couple hours. XD
