Mines are all over the place. It's virtually guaranteed you'll find one within a couple of minimaps no matter where you are.

I find water to be optional myself, the only time I ever need to go to water/sand is for salt and lily things. These are easily collectable with an alt. Grassland and Forest IMO are the things you don't want to not have, lime deposit as well.

I think the chances are fairly good. I personally live in a dark forest (with old logs) with water/beaches and grassland near by. I also have lime spots for my mine. I took several days to walk around and look at different locations before I settled on one.

Note: Water is not only good for salt and water, it is good for lily bulbs (flower arrangements), seaweed and fish (decent humor food), and beavers (better priced skins).

I guess it depends on what agriculture purity you have access to and how high your humors are, seaweed and fish don't do squat for me as far as time investment goes. I find the reliability of cricket hunting to be exceptional far as silver is concerned. I can always find crickets, for the others I tend to spend a lot of time running around. You can fill up buckets in Boston as well.

Salt can also be gathered from Boston, that's where I've been getting mine, but I must admit that it's a pain only gathering 2, max 3 at a time.

i dunno what boston your using, but at mine, if i head across a couple rivers, then walk the shore, theres a strip that i can fill my inventory in less than 10 mins with salt. so much so, that i tend to make 2-3 boxes of mineral surveys, whenever i plan to level my mines/nat phil/sparks or sugar. not trying to sound like im braggin, just stating fact. maybe my server isnt heavly farmed or something iono how the whole randomness works with multiple people in a single area.

as to water youll mainly be using it for flower pots, clay making, and leather making. so if you have 200 silver, you can buy 2 bars, and make 10 buckets, (like i did even tho i leive near water) and port to boston, fill them once, and completely fill either the clay trough, or the tanning tub. so 2 times to fill both, and a third if you cook and need to make dough's. but id advise getting near some kind of water, as mentioned above, youll eventually want beavers. and having to go out patrolling for them really sucks! their meat is great for 15-35ish level humor gains, (walk on wild side, basted beaver brains) ay are super asy to kill. the inspirationals can all be gotten from boston tho.

really its all up to you, id make sure im close to some kind of forest, possibly a river, with a grassland not super far away. get all 3 in one place and yer in heaven. but ultimately scan the area and make sure you DONT have 10 neighbors lol. but thats just me, im a hermit, i shoo people off if they get within 5 miles of my place. i have attack turkeys!
