Braziers and turkeys

I just made my second wall, working to get another one up right now but after reading the forums for a bit i don't know if i should even bother making 3 walls + braziers, so how exactly do braziers work? (i know about the 3 wall rule)
Making some calculations with the formula from the wiki : having 5 braziers will hit for like 7.5 (3.75/sec) BB so that's like 225 BB drain per minute ? If so how did that chief guy killed a guy with 100 humors in a claim with 3 walls + like 40 braziers - do the riders have like 1k humors or something ? (in that case i won't even bother spending silver on iron to make them - just let them steal my 2% seeds and build in another place)

And what about turkeys, can you increase their purity by feeding them some high purity food ? I only get 0% purity eggs by giving them normal food.

If the wiki's formula is right, then having 40 braziers within range to hit him at the same time would only do 13.333 BB damage per second. They'd have heavily diminishing returns. 20 would be 12 points per second, and half the cost.

The braziers can be destroyed just like anything else, and if they are damaged to 50% then they will stop firing until repaired. Seriously doubt the guy that he killed had 100+ humours anyways...but still at 90yb thats like 7 thrusts to kill a 100 blood character.

I'm not the type to quit after he gets killed, this is what i like about this game knowing that you can die. I'm playing it safe for now - i'm raising an alt, have 90% of my silver and 100 of each seeds stored on another alt and anyway silver is pretty easy to make (i make like 200-400/day just by killing bears for food and collecting the feathers while i search for them).

I know at some point i will be killed or my claim raided, what i was wondering is if braziers really help you against a raider or is there a way to trick them into not firing, (it will cost me about 2k silver to make 5 of them) and spending 2k and them not firing or high characters not even felling the drain, i'm better off buying food from that silver.

Get that metal production going. Braziers are definitely worth it.

I prefer not to get involved into mining since i spend most of my time hunting,farming,foraging and cooking but i will take your advice and build 4-5 of them once i'm done with the 3rd wall - i think 4-5 should be enough for a 40x40 claim.
