I don't think anyone was trying to scare him, rather make him more cautious of mechanics that may or may not be ingame. The town crier already makes it clear that we should check the forums thoroughly, so that's all that has been repeated here :p People are trying to encourage newbies to stay informed and up to date on mechanics so as to have as few complaints like these as possible, i think.

We would like to add a lockpicking skill some day, but we have not yet decided on any of the mechanics, nor do we have a schedule for when it will be put in, nor will it be anything like a free pass that just lets people into your base/house.

I apologize if I did indeed scare him, as that was not my intention. My intentions were to give him insight on why his items probably disappeared and exactly what lachlaan explained. I made the noob mistake of ignoring the forums at first, which caused me to miss out on a few important details at first. Now he knows how he was robbed and is able to correct the situation while keeping in mind that Salem is a fluid game so things are always changing and he has to be prepared to adapt. And now he knows how important the forums are!
