Solution: Wagons in town that can take you to the homestead of a kin.

The wagon is driven by an NPC, and it calculates the distance and adds in a risk factor. It would cost X per Y tiles (as measured from Boston), and tiles which pass through darkness cost more depending on how "dark" it is.

Towns could have a special "Coach House" structure that allows free transportation for all Town citizens at a flat weekly cost.

If such a system were in game scyph you'd be posting several new threads demanding your money back as soon as an explorer alt found you and a whole group of raiders/killers insta-warped on top of you.

Boston is a necessity, and the free teleport to a homestead secret just needs to be advertised better so people don't go out into the wilderness before they even realize it's an option. It really gets abused enough as is, and anything more than that will take away the sense of distance and localization that makes the system work.

i loled this so bad....man i wish i can hold you at gun point in RL and rob u since u think money is something that isnt important obviously and if u lose it its MEH no big deal :p
