Prospecting w/ Latkai Client

Postby SprightlyHorse » Thu Sep 08, 2016 1:57 am

I need some info on how exactly prospecting works for Latkai's "alternate prospecting mode"...Ive got 3 arrows (2 pink, 1 green, not including my "way home" arrow) and they basically point in totally opposite directions (green one way and both pink the other), and every so often they move to point in different opposing directions. XD I thought pink arrow was water and green was metal nodes too, but maybe I'm wrong? Can you even prospect properly in a mine? Explain? Anyone? :?

The 2 pink arrows does a pie and the green arrow points towards a mine so the pie area is where the general area where mine will be. If its jumping around then that means theres multiple mines nearby.

I recommend to not use the arrows and rely on your minimap instead and zoom out far in your game camera. When you have prospecting on mines nearby will appear in your minimap with each one representing different colors. Also you will get a visual change on ground where a mine entrance can be built or well if its a water source.

On my latikai map dark brown icon is iron green is copper and a darker blue for water spot, I have not encountered any silver mines yet in the wild.

Prospecting works like this: you get an 'average' direction of the closest mine, and a 'confidence interval'. The mine is guaranteed to be somewhere in the direction covered by the slice between the pink arrows, which contains the green one. If you start out prospecting (or there are no mines nearby) the pie slice will be a whole circle, so the green and pink arrows point to other ends.

Generally speaking, it's fastest to follow the green arrow.

Misc: there are no silver mines right now (and no functional difference between copper and iron nodes).
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

Wait so both an iron and copper mine will yield same stuff?

I mean I started a copper mine inside my base and all its yield is iron which I found to be odd.

They used to be different, but right now they are exactly the same, iirc you wont find copper nodes with a woo woo wand but that's not the point here. ^^

When that was changed, all mines were rolled new (the not yet mined area) and all mines do contain varying amounts of copper, iron and silver.
