boat to boston

I took my settlements boat to row to Boston to pick up a new recruit. So I followed the party member arrow for almost an hour and where the arrow stopped left me out in the middle of the ocean. So my question is can you actually get to Boston from the wild with out teleporting?

The blue arrow is bugged. It sometimes points to a random (or not?) place on the map. To make sure you are really going in the direction of a player, click in his avatar and press "Follow".

It's only for Plymouth, I don't think there are any hosted maps of the new servers.
