Picking berries from bushes

When I started the game I couldn't see berries on bushes, after awhile I could pick up to three from them (I assume I skilled up somehow).

I was then KOed by a rabbit and when I awoke I can't pick berries anymore. I know I lose two proficiencies but I am fairly certain I got them back up.

What is going on?

There are only a few berries on a bush and once they're harvested, they take a long time to respawn. I'm not sure if any proficiencies effect berry bushes but the Flowers & Berries skill certainly does. Since getting that skill, I find a lot of bushes that have 2 berries on them in addition to the fully respawned bushes.

Without Flowers & Berries you may find up to 3 berries on a bush. Aquiring that skill allows you to pick up extra 2 berries.
If someone without skill picked berries from a bush then person with this skill can pick the remaining 2 berries.

I has wondered about why I was getting 2, 3, or 5 berries with F&B -- this makes sense.

yes, but right now I cant pick any... which is an odd since I use to be able to.

Because bush is empty. Picked clean. It won't have berries for a couple days.
