I saw on someone's videos that the animals icons were the icons of them, but ingame they are squares. Can someone tell me how to change the icons to the animals if I can?

You need to go to the radar.xml in your salem appdata folder and clear out the entries forcing them to shapes. Most people prefer the shapes as the animal images are a pain to see against some biomes.

You go to options -> general and check the "Radar icons".

You can edit your ~/Salem/radar.xml and add showicon=true to anything you want the client to show as an icon
