Ignore that, hes just trolling help. Find what you use the most of and plant that, if you plan to use deviled beaver for gluttony, devils wort, if you plan to use mushrooms, plant them, and you can focus the flowers/insperationals on whatever proff you want to work on currently. peppers are good if for no other reason for the jalapenos, and garlic is popular, useful too

stuff you need for cooking are.

red/yellow bellpepper (random chance from new world gourd)
tomato (also for throwing on ppl in stocks) (bought from cook in prov)
carront (random drop when hunting bunnies)
onions (probably need to look through stalls or ask traders)
beets (same)
roses (same) used in distillers to make otto of rose and dehydrated roses. both are good inspirationals
sugar caps // lobbster shrooms.
you can also pot flowers like red trillium that can be found one in each biome, they are decent inspirationals and have good ratio on prof to inspiration

maybe grass, if you need pure hay. or milkweed roots for fiber -> nettings.
you may also plant first stage pumpkins to multiply your seeds. or if you got hands on purer humus//worms than your fields are

Was gonna comment, but reeper beat me to it. Pretty much what he and deepsixed say.
You're gonna want to go easy on the radishes. Personally, I have tons of the damn things and still haven't used them. Most important are onions, garlic, and tomatoes. All the best recipes use those three ingredients. Also try to keep a good number of carrots in rotation.

Also, get shrub orchards. Once you have that, start setting up your own private berry patches. Much less work than digging up bushes and carrying them to where you need them.

Thanks for all the awesome answers! So to speed up my gardening efforts I got myself the gardening shovel from the store and it came with a cape - what artifacts would you guys recommend for a gardener? All possible for rummaging or perhaps something else?
