Wilowbark tonic

I just boiled some wilow bark in a clay pot and got tanning fluid. The wikis and gamerzakhs video say i should be getting tonic. What am i missing?

Are you sure it wasn't birch bark?

What if it was tanning fluid to start with? Didn't someone around here recently get a whole water tower contaminated with tanning fluid?
