alternating homesteads

Is it possible to claim two distant lands and alternate homestead between them? I want to spend some time in one, then maybe move to the other for some days. I know there's a homestead checkbox on the Stake Claim, can it be changed multiple times without cost?

The down side is you need to walk between the claims in order to switch to the alternate one. This isn't a huge problem if you are just claiming a mine entrance in easy walking distance, but I would be very sure I had a reliable way of finding my old claim before switching to the new one (and hope that no one closes off my commuting path with a claim if there are choke points in the hills).
