Value of incredibly high skills?

Postby Eslake » Mon Oct 05, 2015 8:48 am

I'm curious what raising certain skills will eventually accomplish.
Eg. With high enough Thread & Needle I can craft certain clothing with 0-difficulty slots.

What other things can be eliminated or made certain by skill values - and at about what level of skill?

Eg. Mines & Mountains decreases the risk of a collapse, so is it possible to raise the value to a point that they are simply no longer a risk - making Supports unneccessary?

That is where the question came from actually.
While reviewing the M&M inspirational items since it is still lowering the hardness of gems I sift well beyond the minimum M&M for any skill.

The mention of reducing collapse risk in the wiki prompted the discussion and resulting question.
What other things are made certain (or nearly) by investment of skill?

Don't mind the troll. Wiki is often inaccurate and unfinished.
Nope you can't get you M&M to the point that support is not an issue for your mine.

But you can work the mining system is such a way you will never need a mine support unless you find silver or really need ore

You are probably talking about straight line mining. So yeah that is possible, but the support is rather cheap so I will just stick to regular mining :)

It does not have to be a "straight line", also, this "technique", when done right, is superior when it comes to probing your mine for valuable veins.

I'm a newbie miner currently working my way down the levels.

First I do this:

Then when I hit dark tile:

Some levels are miserable. Here, I hit an enormous slab of dark tile. Over 2/3 of what is in the support radii was dark tile. I present a Newbie Miner's Life:

The Hunting & Hideworking one is old right - there is no purity to foragable items? I'll go ahead and make the change to the wiki if we are agreed...
