Farming for Noobs

Postby Monohan » Fri Nov 16, 2012 9:16 pm

Hi all, I'm proud to announce that I have finally gotten agriculture and am ready to farm. I was wondering which crop I should start with, considering I am lone hermit and am nowhere near close enough to getting three-field skill. I'm not too concerned about getting up to tier 4 quite yet, more so just trying to learn farming. Any other helpful tips would be much appreciated.

start them all up. if you can't afford to do that then start with cereal to start making baked goods. after that cabbage. if you don't have pumpkin seeds by the time you are ready for a new crop then go with cotton.

check out the wiki for if you want to see what crops turn into with rotations. wiki is being slow or i would link but search for farming on there

Cabbage, cotton, and pumpkins require extra skills so I guess you are stuck with cereal at the start.

Seeds stack in 100, seed bags allow more seeds/inventory slot. You won't need one anytime soon really.

Don't combine seeds until you absolutely have to. It averages and lowers the purity when you do.
It's been neat to see the evolution of a game. Salem has come so far, and still has far to go. Although frustrating, I think it's been an experience worth the effort.
