I cant choose my server because the game says i need to choose a name first but cant figure out where i do that.!.!.!

Read what the tutorial is telling you in the bottom right.

chose a name, do the tutorial, and when u finished it, chose a server, Popham(PVP~NewServer), Providance(soft PVP~ old server)

everytime i try and choose the server a red message comes up in the chatbar and says you must choose name first even though i already have choosen my name??????

Press ctrl + B Type a name in presentation name then click set. Then talk to the guide to choose a server.

Nope.
Gotta talk to the captain first, presentation name doesnt do anything except show that name to newly kinned people.
