How to get to village and quick bar

I just left the tutorial and set up a lean to on a plot of land. How do I get to a village? Is a village worth going to as a new character?

Also, how do I place skills on the quick bar that is located on the bottom of the screen?

To get to the main town go to adventure - travel - providence while siting at your lean to, that'll take you to the starting city.

To join a "village" you'll have to speak with other players and join them. Joining villages is a little odd here though since a lot of trust is involved (you could easily bring their downfall, but they could easily murder your toon)

And you should be able to drag and drop skills from your menu onto the tool bar.
