How do i create a new char with new accoutn in main server?

A friend of mine trying to join the game to play with me in the main server, but it seems the new char is automatically created at the expedition server. How do I create a char in the main server as the title described?

Not really, after you finish the tutorial and talk to the native guide you can choose Providence (main) and popham (expedition)

He is not selecting the correct server at the end of the tutorial.
