Yeah I got KO'd a good few times during ye olden days, and never did get killed, but it was mostly the bleed that got me and never the actual swishswoosh. As for fighting tactics, run during its dance, stay and fight normally during its normal jumps. Time your stomp for when it lands the jump, stab, run, re-stomp once the immunity wears off , rinse and repeat and you're good. Carry around many a triage thingy for hunting trips and you're set.
