Question with rowboat

Do i need to the skill to repair the boat? If not, how do i repair it, please help, currently stranded out in the sea with my friends and we're scarred

The Rowboat should take coal to repair.

If you do not repair the boat each time you go out, it could possibly dissapere on you. You will loose all items stored in the boat and I hope you can swim.
