Timber Pile waiting time

Why do I have to wait 5 RL days? Am I the only one who thinks it is too long for dry boards? There's even the risk to get moldy boards...
Can't we lower it to 3 days as coal clumps?

I think it's fine. Just plan ahead and make more of them.

Just alternate build times so that you always have a few piles becoming ready each day, or just make enough of them so you'll definetly not run out until the next batch is ready :) Assume worst realistic mouldy results and adjust accordingly, do proper placement, and you'll know more or less how much stuff you'll have available.

You can always buy some already finished boards from some other players.

This! There are plenty of planed board sales in the Trade-Wind Forum.
If you do buy them though, only buy as many boards as you can use right away OR alt vault them.
The scented item risk really prevents trades.

In my experience its not that bad waiting 5 days, its sort of a high end material and should be hard to get and moldy board chance is only a problem if you dont have a proper layout. When i run timber piles i get 78-90% good boards and this is from 30 piles (1200 boards).

It's all part of the money making for the devs. Having a bigger lease requires you to produce more silver for upkeep. (and if you are casual and can't produce... you can always Buy at the silver store)

You can build them outside a lease/claim... but there's no certainly decay or another player won't wipe it out in the time limit.

Typically the first time you need them is hardest wait; but as others have mentioned... just build a bunch and keep building as you use them up.

...And raise your H/N stat... the higher it is... the more planed boards you can make without destroying them.
