Performance issues with multiclient.

Postby Feone » Wed Jun 18, 2014 3:01 pm

When I multiclient I lag horribly. Especially in my main town and boston.

I'm wondering if anyone has any effective ideas for reducing this. (I'm on enders, willing to use any other client that doesn't come in the jnlp or similarly annoying format.)

A hero from the old age once made a low-resolution graphics pack.
It'll drastically lower required memory for running salem (but also makes it less attractive).
That said, it is outdated (as Hans has long since disappeared) and is missing some of the more recent graphics.
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

Oh I'll definitely give that a try.

Or try this:

open a text editor (notepad or somesuch) and copy this line there:
Code: Select all
start "" java -jar salem.jar -U http://game.salemthegame.com/res/ game.salemthegame.com

then save the file in your users\(your user name)\salem\bin directory as salem.bat. (You could also name it whatevermakesyoutick.bat and it'd still work, as long as it is a .bat file containing that line)

Now, enjoy your faster loading times, as well as, very likely, abscence of lag when multiclienting.

Do note that whenever there's a dev update to the game, or an update to ender's client, you will need to start the game one time, using updater.jnlp, before using the .bat file again, so it can update the files.

sure, shorter loading times (it bypasses the updater) but do you really experience less lag in a multiclient setup?
Possibly the updater launches the clients with less/more RAM allocated than default by java, I'm unsure. But aside from that the updaters should be gone when the clients are running.
