how do you kill crickets/rabbits now?

Apparantly they run away from you now. How do you kill them now that you can't just walk up to them and hit them?

You have 2 good options to initiate combat with creatures:

1. Use a Slingshot. The animal will likely attack immediately. Their behavior while in combat will be similar to what you have experienced in the past (wander a bit/attack)

2. Use Stomp while creature is within the Area of Influence of Stomp. As soon as you begin your stomp, if the creature is within range you will initiate combat but the stomp will have no stun effect on the creature. If the creature wanders into range after you've started to Stomp, then you will stun the creature as well as initiate combat.

Guns are expensive to use, so I did not include them as an option.

I would not use Stomp on snakes to initiate combat because you might initiate combat on them and get bitten before you finish your stomp and have the chance to move away or begin another combat action. However, you can safely use stomp against snakes if you are in shallow water or within an enclosed area that the snake cannot enter.

Snakes will initiate combat by themselves too, and they seem to be more likely to randomly walk in your direction than bunnies or crickets.

I usually just wait for them to move in a favorable direction or to attack me before killing them with a single blow. When my stats were too low to 1shot them I'd aggro them with a slingshot, initiate stomp at the point where it would hit before they hit me and then finish them with an uppercut. (The slingshot combo works for any creature, though I wouldn't recommend doing it on a deer unless you can take the charge attack(s).)
