Darkness

Postby Propulsion » Mon Jun 09, 2014 9:54 pm

So I was thinking of building my base in the darkness, but have many questions before I do. I ventured in to it today for the first time, after playing for months.

How does one know they are in the darkness unless they notice their humors decreasing?
Do your humors decrease more rapidly the farther you go into the darkness?
Is it common to live in the darkness?
Does one who lives in the darkness always log off in Boston?

I had a few similar issues, here is what I learned:

1.

2. Yes. In fact, I ended up setting up in the darkness without even realizing I was in it (Before I learned about the tip from Kreek.) I thought because I wasn't losing humors, I was no longer in. A week or so later, my humors were all around 20 higher, and areas where I was losing humor before, I was no longer losing humor in, so it looks like the more humor you have, the deeper you can go before you start losing.

3. I saw more signs of life near or in the darkness than I did for around five hours worth of travel before getting to the darkness, so my guess is "yes".

4. No. I live in the darkness and always log off and on at my settlement.

Hit control+d for a Light Meter window. There is a value (either d or b) that is at 62.75 when you're not in darkness. The lower this value is, the deeper into darkness you are.

I forget tbh, but one consideration to keep in mind is that if you have a 20/20/20/20 toon, it might be in the darkness and not losing any humor at all, so you set up a settlement. When you create a new 5/5/5/5 toon and travel to your settlement, it will likely be losing humor.
