Brand new to salem

Postby Cooldawg74 » Fri Oct 18, 2013 7:42 pm

Hello everyone,

As the title says I'm brand new to Salem. However I just recently found haven and hearth, and played it for several hours without stopping. Upon finding this I was happy as it seems to be a remake with 3d graphics. Can anyone tell me the player base in Salem vs Haven and Hearth? Also I notice you can buy silver with real $USD, what kind of items are you able to buy with the P2W money, and is this game completely pay2win because of the silver?

Silver is a currency you can earn in-game as well as buy with real money. Silver is used mostly to pay for your claim but it's also used to buy an initial claim, a town, and various vanity items and little luxuries. Various forageables, animal items, and other un/common items give you small amounts of silver when sold in Boston to NPCs.

Haven has a consistently larger playerbase than Salem does. At any given time Haven should have at least twice as many players on as Salem.

But HnH is very bot heavy buts still is going to out number Salem in real players. They are both very different games, try them out and see which mechanics you like better.
You need so much high end stuff in Salem that costs thousands of silver, that you would have to spend huge amounts of money to try to 'pay to win' and you can make it in game fairly easily. The best you can do is buy some stuff from other players and give your self a little boost. The best to buy for a new player is probably the Item/diploma packs anyway because they give you an immediate boost to skills and you can sell some of the gear for quite a bit.

Harvest grass, make hay, sell. Profit.

This is absolutely not a p2w game.
